Live For Something Greater Than Your Self

Live for something greater than your self.

Life is a temporary assignment.

Everyone of us is given one chance for a limited time to “live a life that will outlast it,” as philosopher/psychologist Dr. William James aptly put it.

Benny is coming back home to the Philippines to retire. He has worked as perfume factory worker and lived in California, United States, for three decades.

“I want to build a big house in our home province where we’ll live when my wife and I retire. Having worked all my life, we missed having our own house in the Philippines,” he said.

A lot of us see life this way. We have a hard time living our life for something bigger than ourselves.

Only focused on the temporary things of this world as if they’re permanent or we will live here forever.

Truth is, you, like everyone else, will one day be dead. From dust to dust. You go back to your Creator.

You’re not here on earth just to be here.

A lot of people are here just to eat, drink, pay their bills, pleasure themselves, or exist.

Your life is not just about you.

Instead, it’s about using your fleeting life for God and others.

Helping. Inspiring. Making a difference to help save souls and lives.

That awakens you. To the fact that life is too short.

Make the most of it. Live for something greater than your self.

Psalm 90:12
“So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”

2 Corinthians 4:18
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Colossians 3:23
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Ecclesiastes 12:1
“Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, ‘Life is not pleasant anymore.’ “

1 Corinthians 7:31
“ … and those who use the world, as though they did not make full use of it; for the form of this world is passing away.”

Ephesians 5:16
“… making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”
