Hope Amid Life-Threatening Disease

Hope amid life-threatening disease.

I was reading the news awhile ago. When I stumbled upon a current medical update on Kris, which led me to write this post.

Famous TV personality, Kris Aquino, 51, is in serious medical/physical disease. She’s pretty honest about it, updating all in the media.

Latest medical report shows she’s suffering from 3 auto-immune diseases that could damage her organs, such as heart and lungs, “her veins collapsing and useless.”

How do you react when faced with life-threatening disease?

Undoubtedly, you may react or respond in ways that could affect your whole being. Not just physically, but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. You don’t waste your days.

An unnamed Puritan preacher was once quoted, saying:

“Sickness, when sanctified, teaches us 4 things: the vanity of the world, the vileness of sin, the helplessness of man, and the preciousness of Christ.”

Vanity of the world. Vileness of sin. Helplessness of man. Preciousness of Christ.

4 powerful truths and realities to give us hope amid serious disease.

We should never forget these 4 truths and realities when confronted with life-threatening disease – either our own or that of another person, such as a loved one.

Yes, there is hope amid life-threatening disease.

Remember God is “Jehovah-Rapha” – “the LORD who heals you” (Exodus 15:26)—whether He heals us with a miracle, with medicines, or in the world to come.

“I know, LORD, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.” (Jeremiah 10:23)

“My life is in your hands.” (Psalm 31:15)

“O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!” (Psalm 25:1,2)

“I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ “ (ISAIAH 41:13)

“Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you … “ (Psalm 55:22)

“The word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, ‘Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: ‘I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.’ “ (ISAIAH 38:4-5)
