When You Can’t Take It Anymore

I have enough!
When you have enough, you can’t take it anymore.

That sounds too common. A lot of people, especially these Covid pandemic times, experience deep trials and significant anxiety.

Covid doesn’t look it’s going to end soon. With returning and renewed spreads and lockdowns. Many people have had enough.

What do you do when you have too much already?

Elijah had too much. Can’t endure it any longer. Someone wanted to kill him. He became depressed and suicidal.

“I have enough, can’t take it anymore!” were desperate words that came straight from his mouth.

What you can do when you’re in the same state as Elijah is first to avoid mistakes. Avoid the mistakes he made when things became too much for him.

4 mistakes to avoid when you have enough.

#1  Avoid running your self into the ground.    – rest, self care, and don’t wear yourself out

#2  Avoid shutting people out.    – reach out to others, seek help, work with others

#3  Avoid focusing on the negative.    – see what good is hidden, look for positive things

#4  Avoid forgetting God.    – face the problem with God, trust Him and let go

Elijah’s case was both a psychological and spiritual case. He recovered. He healed. He became whole.

With a gentle whisper. From God.

“… ‘Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord.’ And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was cracking the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, a sound of gentle whisper.” (1 Kings 19:11-12)

In the end, God sent a golden chariot and took Elijah away off the face of the earth. He didn’t experience physical death.

“As they were going along and talking, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to Heaven.”  (2 Kings 2:11)

Elijah was downcast and giving up. He feared death. He must had realized that he had become anxious for nothing after God redeemed him.

I have enough

God’s presence in your life is enough when you can’t take it anymore.
