Mental Health in Chess

MENTAL HEALTH IN CHESS:
ANO BA ANG PINAKAMAHALAGANG PUNDASYON SA ATING BUHAY?

One of my favorite American chess grandmasters, Daniel Naroditsky,is dead at 29.

He is a young brilliant mind, and well loved personality in the whole chess world.

Chess has a lot of .twists and turns, victories and pains.

But the reality is, there is so much more important things in life than chess.

At the end of the day, it’s all about our life’s foundation.

Our values. Our meaning-making. Our visioning.

Our very essence of what we think and feel about who we are and what we do.

The only thing that sets real, lasting foundation in our temporal earthly journey is faith and relationship with our Creator.

Chess, or any other sphere, isn’t the only one in life with ups and downs, twists and turns, gains and pains.

Jesus’ metaphor story in Matthew 7:24-27 talks about this sure foundation we all need in our lives.

He speaks of two houses – each pummeled by rain, floods, and wind.

But only one survived the storm: “because it had its foundation on the Rock” (verse 25)
