Chess was accidental to me.
I loved chess when I was a boy.
God used it as a kind of guardian.
For my vulnerable, immature heart.
My stories of family, pain, need, longing
In my childhood were in it.
As I played the game.
Today, I use the game as a bridge
To help people heal and find Christ.
Chessmasters, players, children, youth.
I find community and meaning with them.
Feeding in His Word, ministering His grace.
To each other and beyond.
Chess has become a pretext
For the production of our stories.
To give glory to God in whatever we do.
In real life and with people.
“Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
